Notes for Donald Lochthowe
Donald L. Lochthowe, 78, Minot, died Saturday in a Minot nursing home.

He was born July 21, 1927 at Minot, the son of Otto and Clara (Frost) Lochthowe. He was raised on the family farm north of Minot, and assisted with the operation of the family farmstead.

He was united in marriage to Donna Schram on October 14, 1944 at Glendive, Montana. They made their home on Don's grandfather's farmstead, where they farmed throughout the years until retiring in 1992. They moved into Minot that same year.

Don was named the outstanding young farmer of the year in 1958. He was a lifetime member of the Minot Eagles Aerie and served the club as President in1959. He was also a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, where he served as usher and on the church council for three years. He was a past member of the American Legion, Elks, Moose, Kiwanis and Lions Clubs of Minot.

Survivors include: his wife of 61 years, Donna; daughter, Judith (Verne) Zimbelman, Apple Valley, Minnesota; son, Ronald Lochthowe, Minot; grandchildren, Tamara (David) Edwinson, Apple Valley, Minnesota, and Kristi (Keith) Sell, West St. Paul, Minnesota; great grandchildren, Adam, Jacob, and Emily Edwinson, Austin and Kailey Sell; brothers, James (Arloween) Lochthowe, Surrey, John (Mildred) Lochthowe, Minot; sisters, Elaine (Wendilyn) Dosch, Minot, Clara Jean (William) Klein, Norwich, and Marge (Tom) Kirkhope, Toledo, Ohio; mother-in-law, Ethel Schram, Minot.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, sons, Leon Leroy Lochthowe, US Marine Corps and Gary Michael Lochthowe, US Marine Corps, Betty Jean Lochthowe, daughter-in-law and mother to his grandchildren: Ricky Leroy and Kimberly Jean Lochthowe, sister, Theresa Lorenze, and father-in-law, Ted Schram.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the St. John's Catholic Church in Minot.
