Born on February 17, 1929, he was a life-long Bethany resident. For most of his life Sherman managed and worked Clover Nook Farm as the 6th generation of his family to do so. A farmer and dairyman, Sherman also drove a Bethany Community School bus for 24 years and spent time as a truck driver and construction equipment operator. Sherman leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara (Dahn) Woodward, his daughters, Linda Russell and Deborah Demander (husband Eric), a son, Russell Woodward Sr., two remarkable sisters, Helen Fassett and Marion Sandell, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his youngest child, Sherman "Skip" Woodward III. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Prospect Memorial Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Road, Prospect. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May, 14, 2016 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the CT Young Farmers Committee by mailing checks payable to: CFBA, 775 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, CT 06095-2322, or to the Bethany Volunteer Ambulance Corps at 765 Amity Road, Bethany, CT 06524.
